Y X?

Y X? What I mean to ask is, “Why is GroupX a great supplement to any workout routine?” Maybe this is your question, or perhaps you have other lingering questions and/or reservations about group exercise? Perhaps it is with fear and trepidation that you even entertain the prospect of casting a shadow upon the doorway of a group exercise class. It is unsettling and feels intimidating; meeting new people just isn’t that comfortable for you. Or, perhaps it is judgment you fear; you’re just not coordinated, you’re not in good enough shape and, most frightening, what will people think? Maybe you’ve been toying with the whim of trying a class for sometime now but have just never acted on the idea. Whatever the case or the question, let me start at the beginning by answering with A-B-C; or, perhaps better said, let me implore you to A-C-T.

A ccountability – Anyone who’s been working out for any length of time has experienced the waxing and waning excitement and motivation of a daily exercise routine. Let’s face it. It’s a grind, and most days it’s just not fun, albeit necessary. The good news is that it can be at least a little more fun. The group exercise experience surrounds you with people who miss you when you aren’t there, and who love and sustain you when you are. You’ll always have that person who keeps you answerable by saying, “Hey, we missed you in class!”

Affirmation – Everybody needs an ‘atagirl or ‘ataboy once in a while, right? The encouragement stands supreme as a motivational factor in the group exercise setting, as you begin to establish new relationships and make a great group of friends that have the feel of family. Essentially, you have your own private fan club! Yea, you!

Commitment – As you become more and more acclimated into your class(es), a great sense of ownership ensues. Resistance is futile; it just happens! It becomes your class; your very own class. You feel liable to be there to uphold your comrades and to keep your own personal obligation toward continued health and wellness. In short, you’re committed, like it or not!

Cross Training – There’s nothing better for a workout routine than variety. The benefits of varying your workout (cross training) are, at the very least, two-fold. Variety keeps a workout routine interesting and energized, in turn keeping you committed. It also confuses your muscles, and the more your muscles are befuddled by your deviant departure from the status quo, the better results you don! With group exercise, your workouts are already neatly pre-packaged for you in one big schedule of great classes! All you have to do is show up!

Training – Have you ever thought about being a group exercise instructor? Come on; be honest. If you have, the best experience available is, as a famous tagline from a favorite athletic brand exhorts us, “JUST DO IT!” Come experience the classes consistently for the finest, practical experience, under the tutelage of qualified, certified instructors, you can get! This is your starting block! Get ready, get set...
